The Art of Being a Healthy Kid Summer Camp
Meet Christian & Nina
Learn the heart of the parents behind this one‐of‐a‐kind “Healthy Lifestyle” Summer Camp in Arlington, VA.
My team and I are passionate about helping children understand that health & exercise is FUN. It makes you happy, gives you energy and it is vital to life. As a home school mom, I love working with kids. I have found, if you make it into a game, they are engineered to play and participate with joy! My team is made up of teachers, school counselors and personal trainers that also have a passion to teach children to embrace a healthy lifestyle. Our focus is on integrating problem solving, teamwork and goal setting with fitness, nutrition and crafts. Each kid will create a journal and fill it with their ideas, goals and plans for the future. We love teaching “old school” games that challenge kids in various ways: Simon Says, Hop Scotch, Steal the Bacon, Musical Chairs, real jump rope, kick ball... Games that are fun, that build strength, coordination and confidence! It also lays the groundwork for improved social skills and better self‐control.
It is our goal that once the school year starts, the “bug” for fitness fun and a healthy lifestyle will be a natural part of your child’s life. That “after school” evolves: less about TV and electronics, and more about physical activity and creative time with family and friends.
I was successful in sports in high school and college, it was a very positive experience in my life, I loved it. But, I did not understand as an adult, how that translated to exercise “after sports”. My passion is to teach kids early on, to understand the importance of stretching, building your core and strength training to prolong their longevity, prevent degeneration in the joints and increase their agility. We want to teach them how not to end up with bad knees or hip pain from running or shoulder pain from improper lifting or not stretching, and more!
For children that shy away from athletics, or fitness, who are uncomfortable working out or participating with others ‐ it is our desire to help them cultivate a love for fitness and at the same time, improve their social skills. It is also our goal to instill a passion for embracing a healthy lifestyle.
Another facet I love about our Kid’s Summer Camp is that if a child is involved in any type of sport, we teach the basic fundamentals for building strength, coordination, agility and, as a result, confidence. All great training and preparation for school year activities.
